The Willamette Valley Pipes & Drums is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The band is based in the city of Salem Oregon and is open to any person interested in Scottish piping or drumming.

Wearing the MacLennan modern tartan, the WVP&D is a non-competing  pipe band that travels around Oregon each summer performing at events, parades and concerts throughout the valley and northern Oregon, providing Scottish-style pipe and drum music.

Founded in 1971 as the Oregon National Guard Reserve (ORNGR) Pipe Band, the band has gone through two name changes: The first in 1989, when the ORNGR became the Oregon State Defense Force; and second in 2015, when the name was changed to Willamette Valley Pipes & Drums.

Mission:
The band’s three-fold mission is to:
 * Serve our community by providing entertainment primarily through Scottish-style music
 * Further the development of pipers’ and drummers’ musical abilities and provide musical instruction to those interested in learning pipes or drums
 * Enjoy the friendship that we share through our love of pipe and drum music.

If you are interested in learning the pipes or drums, or in joining the band, skip over to our Join/Learn page for more information.
